Love getting drinks here. The atmosphere is chill with comfy couches and small tables. The lights are low. And everyone will be able to find something they love on the menu.
This distillery makes some pretty special spirits. Their attachment to the history of Kansas City and the man who built it is really cool. Was taken for a tour for Christmas, and was not disappointed. Our guide Matt was enthusiastic and extremely knowledgeable. I ordered the Hanky Panky cocktail after arriving early. 👌On point! Very excited to see these guys growing!
19JUL19 - Great whiskey, good vodka, meh gen. Gen just ain't my thing. Try the double oaked whiskey It's really good.
It's a great venue for drinks or a wedding! Their laid back vibes are perfect and the event space is so cozy.
Excellent burger and short rib! The mashed potatoes were incredible as well. Don’t be fooled by the term “small plates” because both the burger and short ribs were slabs of meat. It was extremely loud though, so almost impossible to have a conversation.
Took the tour and got a great history lesson on KC ties to prohibition! Also got to taste some amazing liquors. Not really a gin guy, but dang thats some great gin!!
Drinks were unique and good. Service was initially very slow, but when a server came (after about 10 minutes) it was better. At least three staff/servers passed without any attention. The fries were good. Ambiance was a highlight.
Beyond fun experience visiting from New Orleans and can really say the people at Toms Town know how to serve a mean drink. Really enjoyed the pretzel and grilled cheese aswell. 10/10 would drink again.
Happy Hour menu works well. The vodka is a national winner for a reason. Because where else would you go to remotely join your friends for a Fantasy Football Draft.
Took my husband here for his bday. It was just us 2 on the tour, which I kinda liked. It's a most do if you live here. Great history in the building and I learned so much. We had a great tour guide. Plus you get to taste there award winning liquor! My husband really enjoyed it and we left with a bottle. Also a great date night! I plan to be back with family and friends next time!
My husband and I did the tour for his birthday this year. We had a blast! There were only 3 of us in the tour group, so it felt like our own private tour. Our tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable! You not only get to learn about the distilling process, but also about the history of KC and the building. Plus there's a tasting at the end. I HIGHLY recommend going on the tour and grabbing a drink in the bar! It's a must-see spot in KC!
A very elegant, pre-prohibition style cocktail bar. Get a frat taste of locally made spirits with a vibe similar to how it was back in the day. Highly recommended for a date night and a nice night out.
We had a great time touring the facility, definitely worth the price. Our tour guide Tony, was AMAZING!!! He added so much to the tour. Plus the tasting was great. We bought their Vodka, which was so smooth. Unlike any I have ever had before!!! Great night out celebrating our anniversary!
Went on the tour for date night. Quality cocktails in a vintage setting set the stage, but was truly impressed with the tour and history that inspired this brand. Finished it off with cocktails and their irresistible green beans in the tasting room. Trust me, they ain't your momma's green beans!
Great choice for pre theater dining. Parking was easy and the seating was very comfortable. The service was very prompt and friendly. We ordered drinks and as expected both were very well made. I had a negroni which I prefer on the rocks, but it was really tasty and well chilled. Glassware was very pretty. We enjoyed the charcuterie platter quite a bit, which was the reason we chose this spot. It definitely included a nice variety of options and came with plenty of crackers which are sometimes lacking. We also had the grilled cheese and tomato soup which I would go back for! Crispy cheese on the outside of the sandwich.Lastly we had the crab dip which was good but may have been a little cheese overload!Finished up the meal with the ice cream sandwiches which were good, but I probably should have opted for the cold brew cocktail the server recommended.Would definitely return for drinks and snacks.
Great vibe... awesome backstory ... awesome drinks and service
This place was absolutely fire. I definitely reccomend coming here! Great booze, great food, great atmosphere. I will be back.
Top notch in every way. Learned a lot of KC history. Setting perfect with great service and great cocktails. Took tour and enjoyed tasting their products. Beautiful labels and historic surroundings. Highly recommend!
Had a lovely cocktail here this afternoon, the Missouri Waltz. Then took the distillery tour, and had a wonderful time with our guide Tony. He was very knowledgeable about both the distillery and the relevant Kansas City history. The end of tour tasting didn't disappoint either!
We had the best time on our distillery tour with Deanna. She was spunky, knowledgeable and fun. We had a group of eleven girls that booked the tour as a fun way to wish our friend well as she moves away. This place did not disappoint. Delicious drinks and the tasting was wonderful!
Really good tour, friendly folks and a great lineup of cocktails and tastings. Highly recommend!
I ordered the grilled cheese which the menu said was to be on ‘panini bread’. It came out encrusted in browned cheese. The inside cheese and grilled onions were good, but awfully sweet. I didn’t like the exterior and wouldn't have ordered it had I known it was put together that way. The presentation was weird too -- the sandwich was sliced into planks and piled on the plate. See the photo. The side order of tomato basil soup was just luke warm. Fortunately my friend’s huge hamburger was more than she could eat and the half I got was very good. Server didn't stop by very often. Sat with an empty water glass for longer than I should have -- even though she filled the table next to us.
Must visit if you like low key, warm, Deco Arts 30’s vibe, with great old school jazz music, without the pretentious vibe or overpriced menu! This place could be an incredible chain; locals be happy it’s not! And the only staff member I met, Joy, nailed it; true professional behind the bar in every way!
The staff is truly awesome and accommodating. The drinks are fun! There were 8 of us and we all tried something different. My only criticism is the food - we were expecting dinner and it was really just appetizers. I guess I should have read the menu before we went there, so we left hungry but had a great time!
The drinks don’t disappoint! This local distillery puts out fantastic spirits and the staff knows how to make a proper drink. Food samplings are seasonal and rotating, and certainly don’t disappoint. Kick your feet up and let the staff make you a new favorite!
We came here about 6 months ago and really enjoyed our experience. Today, we brought our mother in law with us to share but we’re rudely met. We knew we were 15 minutes early to opening time at 4 so we tried the door in an attempt to have a seat and possibly some water while we waited for opening time. The door was open, so we walked in only to be rudely met by a female bartender who said, “um, we’re not actually open until 4”. So, we turned around and left, never to return. We would have easily spent $100-$200 in there tonight but she clearly didn’t want our business.
This is our #1 bar in KC!! We absolutely love everything about it from the drink and menu selection, the subtle historical nods to some of KC's old powerhouses, and the staff is always amazing. We go here every chance we can get!!!
Great as always, Tom's! The cool drinks, the ambiance and the lication of this place is perfect. I went to a Company Holiday Party here, and was sure disappointed that the fries with aioli sauce was not a cboice. I was coming just for that. Love this place.
The fried green beans were so good we ordered them twice! Place is everything it's supposed to be, expected to be and more! Service was great! Great downtown KC spot!
Found this place through a google search, didn’t know it existed before that. Took the tour with a friend for their birthday. This was great. We went on a Friday evening and were the only people on the tour which I thought was going to be awkward, but our tour guide was great! He was so knowledgeable, answered all the questions we didn’t have know we had, and showed us the whole operation. It felt very special which was perfect for my friend’s birthday. When we got to the tasting we walked through the different flavors and styles he explained all the different things we should notice. ***y'all have got to try their gin*** after the tour we went upstairs and had a drink in their lounge, the drinks were Fantastic! They knew how to perfectly highlight the flavors in the alcohol. Over all I would totally recommend this place for a tour or just an evening it for drinks. Definitely a hidden gem and a must try in KC.
My boyfriend and I went through a tour of Tom's Town on our last day in Kansas City. Although there was only two of us on the tour, Tony did an outstanding job providing the history of the distillery and we learned a lot from him. The spirits are a wonderful product including the gin and we enjoyed a few drinks at the bar after the tour. We definitely recommend the tour to anyone looking to learn about a great distillery as well as Kansas City's infamous history.
Local Distilleries are some of my favorite places for great drinks this one will not let you down. Worth a visit.
Went to an after party for Queer Eye For The Straight Guy with my twin sister. Great fun! Great people! Cool place, great ambience. For the party goers they had a photo op with cool vintage car. They made special cockrails for the party and they were delicious.
The tours was very informative. Since they were actually Distilling things and, well, covid, we didn't get to walk around. Despite that, you can see all the major equipment still. The guide was very knowledgeable and did a great job with the tasting.
One of my favorite spots in town to grab a drink and relax. Tom's Town is one of the best distilleries in the Midwest without a doubt. I will always recommend it to anyone looking for a great date night spot or just a chill evening out on the town.
Currently the make vodka, gin, and a bourbon all of which are outstanding. Take the tour to see the distilling floor and barrel room and heat some food history of the building and KC in general. Worth checking out if you’re in town.
My favorite watering hole! & now they are keeping my hands sanitized! The best of the best!
Spent a great evening with friends helping bottle Tom’s Town Bourbon. I was the box maker and I think I mastered the skill. Volunteer work but glad I was part of a great product.
Great atmosphere, fabulous Bourbon. Highly recommend their signature cocktails. If you visit the Pendergast Lounge, Clinton will treat you right.
Why wouldn't you visit a bar that sells spirits made in house? Signature cocktails are great and the atmosphere is vibrant. Book your private event upstairs for an unforgettable experience. Look out KC, this is the new spot for company parties and events!
Beautiful venue. Lots of leather seating with lots of character.Their gin is unique and intriguing. Worth a visit for alone. The TOUR is really cool. You'll learn a bit of KC culture and history you may never have connected the dots on.
After a busy afternoon touring Kansas City and stuffing ourselves with local barbecue, we ended our evening with a great tour of Tom's Town Distillery. Our guide, Nicole, enthusiastically retold some very interesting history about Tom Pendergast and his influence (for better or worse) over Kansas City and the liquor industry in the early 1900's. The distillery itself is beautiful, and our tour was both fun and informative. We ended the tour with a sampling of their vodka, bourbon and gin, and wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy dinner there. Thank you for a great tour!
Took friends on the tour. It was a short informative tour. We got to taste their bourbon, gin and vodka at the end. The place it's has a very swank art deco feel. The cocktails were so good! I think we tried them all! We didn't order any food.
Highly recommend the distillers sample. Great gin and whiskey.
What an experience. Steve did a fantastic job giving us a private tour of the facility, got a killer bottle of booze, got to see it all get made. Just great! The food was fantastic, we did the ceviche, crab dip, and shrimp tacos. All fabulous. Cocktails killed, just great. Love this place. Get off your path and check it out, great booze, great food, awesome staff, what else do you need? 🤷🏻♂️Thanks Steve, see you out to dinner soon. 😉
The vibe in this place was awesome. It had that old time feel which I have never experienced before in person. They had a great selection of mixed drinks and they place was cozy. I had a great coffee drink. I will be back.
Made a point to stop here before a Sprint concert and wished we had had more time. It was comfortably crowded and we sat at the bar and shared a hamburger along with a couple of drinks. The bartenders were very friendly and informative. The food and drinks were excellent. On the way back from the concert, the line was out the door. A great place to enjoy!
This place is ok, as long as you don’t order the old fashioned. Probably the worst whiskey I’ve ever had in my life. Otherwise, Toms Town isn’t horrible.
Good drinks and menu... Worth a stop in for a good cocktail!
My wife and I stopped in with the intention of doing a tasting. Tastings are only available with a tour which didn't start for a few hours. We then figured we'd just order a flight - but the flight choices are pre-determined and not being a huge fan of gin we opted to just order a couple cocktails. So delicious! We also decided we'd get the crab dip and pretzels to snack on after our long drive. Everything was great and we will make this a stop in KC when we come back again.
